In order to become board certified in personal injury trial law in Texas, an attorney must:
- Have been licensed to practice law for at least five years
- Devote a required percentage of practice to personal injury for at least three years
- Have handled a variety of personal injury trial law matters that demonstrates involvement and experience
- Attend personal injury trial law continuing legal education classes regularly
- Have been evaluated by fellow lawyers and judges
- Pass a day-long written exam
