Santa pulls man from burning wreckage in Dallas County, Texas

"It was a fireball and a lot of black smoke," says an eyewitness to the car crash, as Lauren Torrisi reports for ABC News, a crash which happened on I-635 in Dallas County, Texas, on Tuesday. Former volunteer firefighter Brad Luddeke was dressed up as Santa and heading somewhere to deliver presents for children in need when he saw the aftermath of the crash.

Luddeke, who lost his son to a car crash years ago, told reporters that losing his son "altered his future," helping him to understand that "it only takes one person at the right time to save someone."

Luddeke went up to the site of the crash and saw a man inside. He says, "As soon as I grabbed his jacket and pulled him away, I said, 'Your car's on fire.' We turned to leave, and I guess the battery exploded. And that's when everything went up."

Not content with saving someone's life, Santa then directed traffic around the burning car crash wreckage.

Motor vehicle accidents often involve serious injuries or fatalities; though it's not clear whether or not the man Santa pulled from the wreckage was seriously injured, it is clear that the man will survive, thanks to Santa Luddeke.
