Truck driver injured in explosion on Eagle Ford shale

Apparently, 45 barrels of hot oil, the Eagle Ford shale, and trucks are a bad combination. When the driver brought his truck into the well, the hot oil on his truck caught fire, exploded, and injured both the driver and another worker.

Investigators are looking into the cause of this truck accident, including the Texas Railroad Commission and the regional Dallas office of the Occupational Health and Safety Administration.

As Ana Ley reports for the San Antonio Express-News, a passing motorist saw a "large plume of smoke." Two hours later the fire had been extinguished; all that remained burning was the equipment, according to Karnes County Judge Barbara Shaw.

The injured truck driver and the other worker were both sent to San Antonio-area hospitals for treatment.
