'Avoidable' 10-Car Pileup on I-35 in Texas
Commentators are saying the tractor trailer accident and 10-car pileup on I-35 in Texas could have been prevented if the tractor trailer hauling an oversize load did not have to stop prior to going under an overpass.
As KSWO News reports, the tractor trailer was either stopped on the highway or was actually backing up - on the highway - and the drivers behind found themselves slamming on their brakes in order to avoid a collision.
Apparently not one car hit the tractor trailer with its oversize load - a "tank-like container" - but the 10 vehicles piled up among themselves. Only one person appears to have been injured but the report does not elaborate on the severity of the injuries.
This incident is further evidence that oversize big rigs can pose a danger to other drivers on the road, and can lead one to question how this oversize tank-like container was traveling on the road in the first place, obviously too large (or not so obviously) to fit under an overpass.
