It’s not often that motorcyclists survive when hit by trucks. According to Luis Arevalo, the president of the International Association of Firefighters, the motorcyclist was hit when a speeding truck driver cut across multiple lanes of traffic, completely failing to notice a group of motorcyclists.
There were 10 motorcyclists in the group – and Eddie Casas was the one who got hit. As KRGV Channel 5 News reports, Casas is one lucky man, because he was apparently not injured at all. (His motorcycle, however, was totaled.)
Casas was on his way to New York, supporting Brownsville firefighters, in honor of the memory of first responders who participated in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Motorcycles are generally no match for large trucks, especially if the drivers of those large trucks are speeding and not paying enough attention to their surroundings. In more positive news, it appears as though motorcycle convoys from Texas have begun to arrive safely in New York City, and will be taking part in the upcoming remembrance ceremonies.
