Long Sentence Handed down in Texas DWI Case

The Law Offices of Tyler & Peery

"Sorry just isn't good enough. I am sorry though ... I took your family away from you. If I could absorb your pain and hurt, I would." That's the 40-year-old woman who was recently convicted of drunk driving, a case that involved the deaths of four people in the alcohol-related car wreck.

Normally, drunk driving cases that involve fatal car wrecks do not result in murder charges; rather, they result in intoxication manslaughter charges. But, as Craig Kapitan reports for the Houston Chronicle, the woman had been fleeing from the police at the time of the crash, which resulted in murder charges.

On that day, the police saw her run a red light. She was driving at .11 for her blood alcohol content - definitely over the legal limit to drive after having consumed alcoholic beverages - and ended up killing four people: a wife, two daughters, and a grandson.

The surviving grandfather wrote: "There is no punishment in the world that can change what has happened or bring back my loved ones."
