Man in wheelchair crossing San Antonio street hit by car

Pedestrians often have to be on the lookout for cars when crossing the street, even if they cross in designated areas. Too man times, drivers are distracted or simply ignore signs indicating a pedestrian crossing, resulting in severe accidents.

When a car and a pedestrian are involved in an accident, generally the pedestrian is the only person injured. This is because pedestrians often have no protection in a collision, and drivers and passengers in cars have the structural and technological protections provided by the vehicle.

A person in a wheelchair crossing a street in San Antonio was struck by a car last week. The 77 year-old man was listed in critical but stable condition at a hospital after the accident.

When people don't see pedestrians, the accident can result in catastrophic injuries. If a person is older, their injuries might be more severe and complicate other health problems.

For people involved in an accident, their primary concern is with recovering from their injuries. However, after they get home from the hospital, they might be shocked at the large medical bills they receive. Even a trip to an emergency room without being admitted to a hospital can result in thousands of dollars in medical expenses.

Speaking with an experienced personal injury attorney in San Antonio might be a wise decision for anyone involved in a car accident. They can help a person, whether they are in a pedestrian or another car, understand their rights and possibly seek compensation for expenses resulting from the accident.
