Teen dies after remote-control helicopter accident

A teenager in another state died earlier this week in a rare accident. The teen was in a park operating a remote-control helicopter when the helicopter fell from the sky and struck the teen in the head. Reports say the teen died from a severe head injury.

A spokesperson for the Academy of Model Aeronautics says that they believe this is only the second known death from a remote-controlled helicopter. Although this fatal accident might have been rare, it potentially could have been prevented.

When a person purchases a product, it is important that they have proper instructions on how to use the product. The product must be designed safely, or warn about potential hazards. Sometimes people are killed because of another person's negligence or a negligent company. In cases similar to this one, a company who manufactured a remote-controlled helicopter might be considered negligent depending on the manufacturing process and warnings that accompanied the product.

When someone is killed in a fatal accident, their family is faced with one of the most devastating times of their lives. In addition to the emotional stress that a fatal accident can cause many families can suffer financially after an accident. They might be unable to pay for funeral costs, and in some cases monthly bills might be a struggle.

If the person that is killed was a primary income earner for a family, the family might have to make extreme financial decisions at an already difficult period in their lives. These decisions could derail or delay financial goals.
