18-Wheeler Loses Control and Crashes - Cause Remains Unknown

The Law Offices of Tyler & Peery

When driving a massive vehicle like an 18-wheel semi-truck, it is even more important to stay in control at all times. Even a minor mistake can lead to a catastrophic accident when a large, heavy truck is involved.

Last week, an 18-wheel gravel truck swerved abruptly off the side of the road and slammed into a tree. Although the cause of this crash remains unknown, the driver died at the scene. No other vehicles appear to have been involved.

This crash highlights the big dangers that exist whenever anything goes wrong in an 18-wheel cab. Whether a truck accident results from driver negligence, driver fatigue, distracted driving, mechanical failures or a medical problem, the consequences for anyone around the truck can be severe. The size and power of this truck carried it a long distance from the road itself before it hit a tree.

The implications of these risks for truck companies should come as no surprise. It is important for the trucking industry to carefully monitor every aspect of their operations that they can to prevent risky situations from developing. This includes everything from proper vehicle maintenance, driver training and accountability, safe rest policies and regular medical evaluations.

When truck companies fail to perform these important safety tasks, they may be liable for negligently causing a deadly crash.
