Female pedestrian injured by hit-and-run driver

Common sense would dictate that a driver who strikes a pedestrian should stop and remain at the scene to help the injured party. But as hard as it may be to believe, there are people who will not take responsibility for their actions behind the wheel.

In El Paso, police are asking the public to help them track down a hit-and-run driver. The driver reportedly struck and seriously injured a female pedestrian. Witnesses say the vehicle in question was a dark brown or gray SUV.

According to investigators, the woman was crossing an intersection while walking her dog. She was struck and knocked to the ground by the vehicle. It is said that the car also ran over the woman's foot. Sadly, the dog was killed in the accident.

Those who harm others due to their negligent driving should be held accountable and hopefully the El Paso police will be able to bring the driver in this story to justice. An accident of this kind can leave victims with catastrophic injuries. They may require prolonged hospital care and rehabilitation.

If you, as a pedestrian, are ever hit by an automobile, there are some important things you should know. First, in Texas, pedestrians typically have the right of way. This is true even if they are in a roadway with traffic approaching. Also, if you are in a hit-and-run situation and you have uninsured motorist coverage on your automobile, you may be able to receive compensation.

If you, or a family member, ever suffer injuries due to the negligence of another driver, you may find the assistance of a Texas personal injury attorney of value. The attorney could help you deal with insurance companies and may be able to see that you get compensation appropriate to the pain and suffering you have had to endure.
