When people can no longer effectively fend for themselves due to age or health issues, a nursing home may become the best care option. The decision that residents of San Antonio make in seeking assisted living accommodation for a family member should consider the needs of everyone involved.

Ultimately the selection of a nursing facility for a family member is a choice rooted in trust. However that trust can seem to be betrayed if the negligence of the facility’s staff results in the wrongful death of a loved one.

An elderly female resident recently died at the Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center located in Clarksville, Texas. Reportedly, in the early morning hours of Oct. 24, the woman was found in a ditch located across U.S. Highway 82 from the nursing facility. She was placed in a wheelchair and delivered back into her bed.

A wrongful death suit has been filed by the victim’s family against Nexion Health, owners of the nursing center. Members of the facility’s staff have had criminal charges filed against them for falsifying reports regarding the incident and negligence, which led to the woman’s death.

Those who require assisted living are, due to the nature of their condition, extremely vulnerable. The facilities paid to take on the caring responsibilities of persons in such need must be held accountable for the well-being of their patients. If you have had a loved one hurt or even killed due to the negligence of others, you can seek justice through legal means. Working with an attorney who understands the law and can assess your situation can help you determine the best way to move forward.
