San Antonio Defective Drug Lawyers

We often trust the safety of the drugs we take to treat illness or disease and to make us feel better. We also trust our doctors, who prescribe those drugs. After all, the Food and Drug Administration exists to make sure the drugs we take are safe – otherwise the diabetes drug Actos, for example, or the heart drug Pradaxa wouldn’t be on the market.

But these drugs are on the market. And both of them have proven fatal for some patients.

Why Hire The Law Offices of Tyler & Peery?

We’ve been in business since 1990. We’ve been around long enough to know that there will always be pharmaceutical innovation. There will always be new drugs. Some of them will work wonderfully; others will cause serious injury or even death. We hold drug companies accountable when their products harm people. San Antonio Defective Drug Attorneys Holding Companies Accountable

If you know anything about the pharmaceutical industry, you know that drug companies want to make a profit, just like any other company. But the pharmaceutical industry is different – the drugs we take should be safe. They shouldn’t cause more harm than good. Despite this, big drug companies do things like promote unapproved drugs and push off-label use.

At The Law Offices of Tyler & Peery, we represent patients and families in actions against drug companies involving all types of prescription drugs, including:

  • Testosterone Therapy. Testosterone treatments such as AndroGel and Axiron have become enormously popular in recent years, with prescriptions numbering in the millions. According to recent studies, however, these treatments may put users at a higher risk for heart attacks, pulmonary embolisms and strokes.
  • Yaz (and Yasmin, Ocella and Beyaz). These birth control pills were pushed to the top of the pack as the best-selling birth control pills in the world due to illegal marketing. They all contain drospirenone, which increases the risk of blood clots, but Yaz and the others were marketed to women through the unfounded assertion that they reduce symptoms of PMS.
  • Prozac and Zoloft. Pregnant women who took these antidepressants sometimes gave birth to infants with severe birth defects, including heart, skull, facial, limb, neural tube and lung defects. Similar drugs include Celexa, Lexapro and Paxil. To this day, the warning labels remain largely unchanged, despite the risk of birth defects.
  • Boniva. Long-term use of bisphosphonate drugs in the treatment of osteoporosis has indicated atypical femur fracture. Similar osteoporosis drugs include Fosamax and Actonel.

The patient always assumes some risk when taking prescription drugs. But the risk shouldn’t be increased because of unethical (and sometimes criminal) behavior on the part of drug companies.
