In order to become board-certified in personal injury trial law in Texas, an attorney must:

  • Have been licensed to practice law for at least five years
  • Devote a required percentage of practice to personal injury for at least three years
  • Have handled a variety of personal injury trial law matters that demonstrates involvement and experience
  • Attend personal injury trial law continuing legal education classes regularly
  • Have been evaluated by fellow lawyers and judges
  • Pass a day-long written exam
